My Instagram account does not connect - why?

In your Ägile Ässets account go to the settings area - you will find the settings access in the upper right corner of the entry page:

Three things need to be checked to make sure your Instagram account can be connected with Ägile Ässets or any other similiar tool:

1. Your Instagram account needs to be set on 'business' account, NOT 'creator'. || || Note that ONLY business accounts can be connected for autopublishing.
2. The Instagram account needs to be connected within the Meta Business Manager with a corresponding Facebook page.
3. Even if you do not use it, connect the Facebook pages first, then the Instagram accounts.

As the Instagram accounts are organized underneath the facebook pages, when you trigger the connect, it will open a Facebook connection window.

Make sure you are logged in into your respective Facebook account as well as the Instagram account you want to connect.

It will show you the settings to be activated for the relevant pages and Instagram accounts, then close again after you confirmed.

Once it is set up, it will look like this:

Question 2

Is recurring posts possible at the moment in Ägile Ässets?

Nope, we have not built it in that sense - as we wanna keep things really agile.

I (Kristin) for example, had been struggling with such settings in other tools because they were often too stiff (as in "repeat post biweekly but not on that holiday" would not work).

It is super easy, though to fake it and stay agile about those posts in Ägile Ässets:

you just drag and drop them from our selection area several times to wherever you want to have them - and then can still easily move them around. See screenshot - this is simply 4 drags, 4 seconds max. - and still flexible. 🙂

Btw: Should you have several language and/or channel versions you can map them for parallel calendars and they will automatically be mapped on all of them - and then you can still adapt them per language by drag and drop.

We created this page to help you properly connect your Meta accounts (Instagram and Facebook) to Ägile Ässets. The key to success lies in understanding how Meta's ecosystem works and setting up the foundation correctly in their Business Manager first.

Why these steps are necessary

Meta's system works on a hierarchical structure where your Facebook Page acts as the "parent" account that manages permissions and access for connected tools. Here's the specific chain that must be established: Facebook Page → Instagram Business Account → Third-party tools like Ägile Ässets

This means:

Instagram Business accounts can only connect to external tools when they're properly linked to a Facebook Page first
Personal accounts (both Facebook and Instagram) don't have the business-level API access needed for social media management tools
Meta routes all Instagram API communications through the connected Facebook Page infrastructure
This setup enables auto-publishing functionality - Ägile Ässets can automatically publish your posts to Instagram through this Facebook Page connection
Without this foundation in place, the technical connection simply cannot be established

Think of it like needing a business license before you can open a business bank account - the Facebook Page is your "business license" that enables the more advanced features like auto-publishing to Instagram.

How to add and auto-publish slider posts in Instagram vs. Linkedin (there is an importand difference!)

You might be wondering why slider posts are and need to be handled differently - also in Ägile Ässets.

"Differently" means:

for a slider post to show up in Linkedin, you need to please choose "single post" and then upload a pdf file. When published, this will show up as a slider.
for a slider post to be scheduled to Instagram, however, you need to choose "slider post" and then add a collection of pictures. When posted, this will show up in Instagram as a slider.

Is that logical?

Hell, no!

Those platforms simply have different ways of handling different formats. Why?

Well, the way platforms and software is set up often stems from a certain way of appoaching things. We suspect it comes in mostly from the fact that Linkedin is Microsoft owned and therefore very "PPT" and powerpoint slides style which will as a standard be turned into and shared as a PDF while Instagram historically approaches social sharing from visual elements such as pictures.

Which kinds of posts can I autopublish to Linkedin?

Accepted Answer

We will typically build in all connections that are possible at that point.

For Linkedin, this formats can be autopublished as of 20th of September:

copy text
copy + image
copy + slides (upload a PDF for that)

Not possible:

polls (they only work natively, that means directly in Linkedin). Our workaround for that: We ourselves use a fake post with layout for that, put the idea in the copy and post it manually on the given day.

In the left thumbnail area, a PDF post for posting slides will have this printer icon:

💡 Pro Tipp: _Even though that might sound a bit unlogical (it wasn't our idea, sorry! ;)), if you want to post a slider carousel to Instagram, it would need to be a set of pictures (JPG or PNG). Those will autopublish there as a slider. _

I had set up a post to autopublish, but it wasn't posted... what's happening?

Accepted Answer

For overall context: We are very regularly checking the API connection to the Social Media platforms that are connected. So, in 99%+ we can safely assume, that the connection itself is working. Of course, even the most stable platform can sometimes have a little bit of a breakdown some time… and if that should happen to Facebook, Linkedin etc. this is beyond our control.

In the most cases if a post did not post, the reason is actually quite straight on and can easily be fixed.

Some examples of what we have seen so far - and how to fix it:

trying to post a format to a channel where this format is not available (think: YouTube and trying to send a graphic plus caption there … that won't work). => Make sure the post you're posting and its format fit the platform and its formats.
posting a post that exceeds the character limitations given by that platform. We have built in the current limits into Ägile Ässets, and it will typically only show you those channels ready to be activated that are good to go. However, there is a slight fog area about emoji and for how many characters they count. => If you want to 100% make sure that a post goes through automatically for example to Linkedin, we recommend to give it a bit more buffer in terms of caption length.
